Ordination

Tomorrow is the anniversary of my ordination as a Church of Scotland Minister. So how do I feel now that I am retired? Relieved? Sad? The answer is both of course. I realised that I was too unwell to continue in an onerous full-time post, but I do miss the people and the involvement in the life of the church both locally and nationally. So far I have avoided taking on many commitments, and there never seems to be time to do all the things I would like to do anyway. I have learned a lot this past year, particularly about the importance of silence and listening. And perhaps I am more patient than I used to be. So all in all I shall be thankful tomorrow, for the gift of a vocation and for a life of continually learning.

Not so bad after all…….
