It’s Complicated

It’s been a long time since I have laughed – guffawed even – out loud, literally holding my sides and unable to get my breath. This film was excellent; the cast are ideal in their roles as late middle-agers going astray.

There is one moment with Alec Baldwin which has to be a classic. (I won’t spoil it by divulging further details, but you will know it when you see it.) Meryl Streep and Baldwin play a divorced couple who somehow click in a magical affair, while Steve Martin is the gentle, genuine guy who comes into the equation.

It is romantic comedy at its best, though I admit that maybe being of a certain age makes it even funnier because of life and experience. All the characters are well played and as the amazon review says, the son-in-law had some moments of pure genius.

So there you are, a 10 out of 10 and one to add to the library.

I completely agree with you on this! One of the best movies I’ve enjoyed in a long time!

  2. Funny you should mention this film. I opened the curio cabinet drawer where I keep odds and ends, and saw the DVD today.

I really don’t like Alec Baldwin, but love Meryl, so I enjoyed the film because of her. She is a great actress. As others are enjoying it this year, I will have to watch it again. Thanks for reminding me.

I thought Alec Baldwin was brilliant in this movie.

Hilarious! Enjoyed the second time too.
