Laugh don’t fret

This is a joke that is meant to make you laugh not worry.

During a visit to my doctor, I asked him, “How do you determine whether or not an older person should be put in an old age home?”

“Well,” he said, “we fill up a bathtub, then we offer a teaspoon, a teacup & a bucket to the person to empty the bathtub.”

“Oh, I understand,” I said. “A normal person would use the bucket because it is bigger than the spoon or the teacup.”

“No,” he said. “A normal person would pull the plug. Do you want a bed near the window?”

I have to thank Lisa at my manner of life for this one.  What I would like to know is, are you having the bed next to mine?

Ah! But was the bathwater hot or cold? An elder person simply might not want to put their hand into cold water? I would want a second opinion!

  2. A lovely story Freda, I really needed something to laugh about this morning. No, I will not be in the bed next to you, I want the one nearest the bath!

I just turned 60, so am terribly happy that I thought to pull the plug while reading the second paragraph! This really is a funny one.

Great story, although scary because I fell for it.

I agree with Mina…procrastinate and delay!!

  6. I agree with Mina, you must consider the temperature of the water. On the other hand, if you have a long handled scrub brush, and the plug is on a chain, you might not have to put your hand in the water.

They won’t let me into the old folks home, I would drive the staff crazy with questions.

It seems to be fifty-fifty in favour of testing the water temperature. That’s what I call lateral thinking. The lack of thought about there being a bath-plug really bothered me – however, I did laugh about it so that’s OK.

Btw – I really did LOL at the thought of Dianne driving the staff crazy. As a matter of fact it was nearly LOLROTF!

Just had to stop back again and thank you for you generous comments on my post!!

Needed that after a long day of this 60-something helping an 80-something deal with oral surgery and a scary aftermath. All’s well I hope, and neither one of us is headed for the old-folks’ home yet. I may, however, be headed for some other kind of institution. I just slogged brainlessly right through the narrative to the punch line.
