There is a trick to having a day out in Argyll in 2007. Firstly, assume that it will rain and that if it is already raining when you set out then it will get heavier as the day goes on. Secondly, pack tasty food including a dressed crab, mangetout, baby corn on the cob and peppers together with crisp crackers and yummy yogurt. Finally, persuade Him Behind the Wheel to take the campervan.
Along with our visitor and her dog, we enjoyed an extremely wet trip to Lochgilphead and managed a splooshy walk along the front and a meander in and out of the shops. Especially deserving of mention was the bookshop which has an extensive range of local and special interest titles. Of course I came home with three more books to add to the “to read” pile.
A most satisfying day, topped off with a welcome phone call from friends who are meandering in Europe.
