Too good to finish

Another book recommendation. Many a time I have wished I was not coming to the end of the book, but this time is amplified. I reached to within the last hundred pages of The Island by Victoria Hislop, and I have stopped to draw breath……and have gone back to the beginning. I am enjoying it immensely, both for its historicity and insights into human thoughts and behaviours. The book is about the Island of Crete and the leper colony on Spinalonga. Hislop is an expert at weaving tales and describing places so as to make them come alive. I have spent a holiday on Crete, but at the other end of the island from Plaka and Spinolonga, but this revives old memories and makes me want to go back one day.

Now…..back to enjoying the novel – all over again.
