I know this poem well, it is so sad.
I have reached the first shores of Lethe but hope not to get to the river’s end.
Perhaps his vision is the vision of utter obliteration through illness. I would hope so, anyway. At least then we won’t know how much we have forgotten.

Freda, the poem is too sad and not always true. I prefer Dylan Thomas, “Do not go gently into that dark night, Rage, rage against the dying light. Dianne

PS Rita Dove is our new Poet Laureate.

Perhaps it is just the mood I have been in during this long winter…… Will look up Rita Dove, Dianne, thanks.
