Bonfires and Bats

There have been some strange bumps and squeaks at the windows over the weekend. It seems that the bats have been going off course – maybe their sonar is not working. Or maybe it has been sent squiffy by bonfires and banging fireworks.

It seems a long time ago since I enjoyed bonfire night, courtesy of a friendly south London street party. And of course such parties are discouraged nowadays. So I was glad to hear that son No 3 was at just such a party and barbecue on Saturday night. Old fashioned fun for a change. With safety very much in mind I hasten to add. – Reminds me of an article in the paper over the weekend which was talking of how children are being coddled too much, mainly because of the fears of the parents. The trouble is that should things go wrong, how does anyone live with the guilt. There you are – back to guilt again……
